Shopify plan upgrade break-even calculator

Use your own plan quotes to compare monthly fees and find when lower payment rates cover an upgrade.

Put two quotes side by side

The filled-in numbers are made-up examples, not current Shopify prices. Replace them with quotes for the same country and billing period. Use one currency throughout. The preset example uses USD.

Plan A
Plan B

Add percentage fees only if they apply to the same payment and amount. This tool compares one payment route. For a mix of payment types, calculate fee savings for each type separately, then subtract the added plan fee once. Do not add a plan fee for each type.

Uses the percentage-rate saving. Fixed fees are the same in both quotes.

Only the fees entered are compared. Needed features, taxes, apps, foreign cards, currency conversion, refunds, and other payment routes are outside this model. It does not recommend a plan for your whole store.

When does a Shopify upgrade pay for itself?

In this example, Plan B costs $60 more each month and saves 0.2 percentage points on eligible sales. Divide $60 by 0.002: the fee break-even point is $30,000 in monthly sales.

A needed feature can make a plan worth choosing before that point. Check staff access, reporting, shipping, and the terms for your store. Check Shopify’s current plans and the rates in your admin.

Why use your own rates?

Country, billing term, card type, payment provider, and other choices can change the bill. A payment processor fee and a Shopify third-party fee are different charges. Read the fee guide before combining them.
