The short answer
Useful free choices include myuser.ai Free Capture, Shopify Forms, Shopify Inbox, Judge.me Free, and Shopify Search & Discovery. Each serves a different job. Start with only the jobs you need. Check the ongoing free plan and its limits, since a free trial or free install can still lead to charges.

Know what free means
These picks have ongoing free options, checked September 13, 2026. This list groups apps by the work they do.
A free plan has no set trial end date. A free trial gives temporary access to a paid plan. A free install may still charge you for using features. Read the plan screen before you approve any paid access.
Free apps still take time to set up and check. Use our guide to apps you actually need before adding the whole list.

- 01100 people
A sample list within the 250-contact limit.
- 023 emails each
Uses 300 of 500 monthly email sends.
- 03200 sends left
Welcome and other emails also count.
myuser.ai Free Capture: signups and messages
myuser.ai Free Capture costs $0 per month. It includes up to 250 contacts on your list. Each month includes 500 emails and 100 SMS segments. An SMS segment is one counted part of a text.
This is our first place to look for combined signup and follow-up work. myuser.ai writes and sends messages using your store's shopper activity. You choose your designs, offers, and channels.
The free plan has limits; it is not unlimited sending. Paid plans start at $49 USD per month. Ongoing access to signup games needs a paid plan.
Shopify Forms and Inbox: two separate jobs
Shopify Forms is free to install and use. It collects signups through forms you can change. Sending marketing messages needs an email app, such as Shopify Messaging.
Choose Forms when you need a separate form tool. If myuser.ai already handles your signups, check for overlap first. Shoppers do not need two popups asking the same thing.
Shopify Inbox is also free and adds store chat. Use it to help answer questions about your products. Check their questions and turn repeated answers into product details.
Judge.me and Search & Discovery: proof and browsing
Judge.me Free includes unlimited review requests and a review display. Use it to ask real buyers about real purchases. The separate Awesome plan costs $15 USD per month.
Follow our steps for adding product reviews when you have buyers to ask.
Shopify Search & Discovery is free. It helps change search, filters, and related product suggestions. It is most useful when people need help sorting choices. Check how your theme shows the features you want.
Work out what the limits mean
Here is a made-up example for a small soap shop. Its list has 100 people who want marketing emails. Sending each person three emails uses 300 email sends. That leaves 200 of Free Capture's 500 monthly emails.
New welcome emails and other sends use that allowance too. Count all planned messages before you add another send.
Text limits need their own check. Fifty texts using two segments each use 100 segments. Try the SMS length calculator with your final text. The number of people alone does not show total use.
Keep your free setup useful
Keep a small note with each app's current free limit. Check that note before you turn on more features.
- Does this feature belong to my selected free plan?
- How much of the monthly allowance will it use?
- Does another app already handle this same store task?
Paid access should solve a problem you can name. Use the plan-cost calculator to explore the sales needed to cover a paid plan. Those figures are planning examples, not expected sales. Build your cap with our Shopify app budget guide.
