How to Add a 10% Off Pop-Up on Shopify

3 min readUpdated September 13, 2026By Merchant Shortlist editorial desk

The short answer

Create a 10% discount code in Shopify first. Then add a signup form that explains the offer. Show the code after signup or send it by email. We recommend myuser.ai when you want forms and follow-up messages together. Always check the code and form before shoppers see them.

Set rules you can explain

Choose what the discount covers before you write anything. Will it cover every item or just one range? Does the buyer need to spend a set amount?

Example: a candle store offers 10% off one order. A $30 candle becomes $27 before shipping and tax. Make sure the store can afford that $3 saving.

Start with a plain form for this offer. myuser.ai signup forms can collect email signups and send follow-ups. Games are optional paid features. A simple offer needs no game.

Use our app budget guide to keep costs clear.

Make the offer work
  1. 01Code

    Create a real 10% discount.

  2. 02Form

    Say what shoppers will get.

  3. 03Check

Try signup and the checkout code.

Create the discount in Shopify

Open your Shopify admin on a computer. Then follow these steps:

  1. Open Discounts and choose Create discount.
  2. Choose Amount off orders, then select Discount code.
  3. Enter a clear code, such as CANDLE10.
  4. Choose Percentage and enter 10 as the value.
  5. Set customer rules, usage limits, and any minimum spend.
  6. Choose whether other discounts can combine with this one.
  7. Check the start and end dates, then save.

Follow Shopify’s discount code guide for the full options. One use per customer does not itself mean first order only.

Draft a clear signup offer

Try your words in the myuser.ai pop-up editor. Change the title, button, colors, and signup fields. Its saved notes help you rebuild the design later. This public editor does not install a live form.

Here is example copy for the candle store:

Button: Get my 10% code

Small print: One use per customer. You can unsubscribe anytime.

Add any minimum spend or end date beside the offer.

Add the form to your store

In the installed myuser.ai app, create your signup form. Add your offer, store colors, and email field. Keep the signup text clear about future marketing emails. Put your saved code in the thank-you or welcome message. Check that the message repeats the right deal terms.

Turn on the myuser.ai app embed in your theme. This switch lets the app run on your store. Check the form’s live status as well as saving it.

For a form-only option, Shopify Forms is free. Create a Popup form in Apps > Forms. Add your code under Success. Enable the Forms theme app embed, then preview and activate the form.

Try the whole signup on your phone

Give shoppers time to see your products before the form. Keep the close button easy to find and tap. Ask for an email first; add other fields only when needed.

Use your own email to check the live signup. Read the success message and any welcome email. Copy the code into a checkout with an allowed product. Confirm the saving matches your offer before making a purchase.

Also try an item that should not get the deal. Check the minimum spend and any discount combinations you allowed.

Send the welcome you promised

The first email should deliver the code or useful next step. Keep the same deal terms you showed on the form. Do not turn an email signup into permission for texts.

Paste your welcome draft into the myuser.ai email reviewer. Check the subject, offer, and button before using its changes.

Watch signups, code uses, and orders over the next week. Change one thing if people get stuck. Check myuser.ai plan limits as your list grows. The free plan includes 250 contacts and 500 emails per month.

Next, learn how emails can send on their own.
